The Joey Pero Band returns to Downtown Las Vegas for a limited engagement run before heading back to New York.
Downtowns long-standing trumpet recording artist and band leader Joey Pero will be performing with his band for three more engagements downtown. Pero, 33, is headed back east to pursue an opportunity with the highly anticipated Broadway show called "Bandstand" a Musical. Hailed by the New York Post as "A strong TONY hopeful for best musical", "Bandstand" features composition and lyrics by Las Vegas talents Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor. Pero was offered the position after auditioning in New York for the roll in July. Prior to his Vegas years, Pero studied at New York's prestigious Juilliard School where he was mentored by "Wynton Marsalis". He toured with Jazz trumpet legend "Maynard Ferguson" in 2005 and released his highly acclaimed record "Resonance" featuring the likes of Freddie Cole (brother to Nat) and Phoebe Snow. Joey has performed in 42 states and 7 counties. He was a featured performer at the inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009 and headlined the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Australia and Minnesota. While in Las Vegas, Joey's become a staple in many circles of the entertainment capital, performing regularly downtown and at the Smith Centers' Composers Showcase. Pero's band performed at the Life Is Beautiful Festival, The Downtown Grand, The Cosmopolitan as well as several downtown locations. He performs frequently at "Jersey Boy" at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas and has also been a member of the national touring cast of the hit show. The Joey Pero Band will perform a free show this Saturday, November 22nd from 6-9PM at the Downtown Container Park, a venue he has played since the parks opening last year. In stark contrast to his usual high energy set, Pero and his team will perform in a collaborative concert with "Is It Floyd" at the Bunkhouse Saloon December 11th at 8 and 10PM. The show will feature a live band performing Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" along with a viewing of "The Wizard of Oz". Tickets are $10. Pero's "Resolution" show will be on January 9th at the Bunkhouse Saloon 7:30PM.
